Job Summary

Provide antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal care to childbearing women and their newborns according to the Midwifery Scope of Practice. Uphold Abu Dhabi professional standards and support health education and breastfeeding initiatives. Assess and plan care, recognize complications and risk factors, coordinate care across the episode of care, and ensure safe documentation, confidentiality, infection control, and patient safety through collaboration with an interdisciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities

•Provide antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal care for childbearing women and their newborns according to the Midwifery Scope of Practice.
•Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care in line with organizational policies and the unit scope of service.
•Identify pregnancy complications and risk factors, initiate appropriate action, and refer to the appropriate physician.
•Promote breastfeeding and comply with ‘baby friendly’ initiatives while coordinating individualized care and discharge planning.
•Supervise practical nurses/midwives and junior or student staff; act as a preceptor/role model and contribute to quality improvement and patient safety.

Key Requirements

•DOH License Midwife.
•Provide routine antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal care for normal pregnancy, including risk assessment and recognition of complications.
•Use evidence-based practice in the provision of care.
•Maintain confidentiality and comply with professional and patient safety standards, including infection control policies.
•Coordinate individualized care and incorporate discharge planning into the plan of care.
