Key Responsibilities

  • •Provide technical leadership, coordination, and managerial support for the Unit of Emerging Zoonoses and High Impact Epidemics to ensure efficient delivery of activities.
  • •Develop and update evidence-based technical guidance, strategies, and health policies in collaboration with Regional and Country Offices and partners.
  • •Oversee a unit of technical teams and manage the programme area by planning and delivering objectives using teams, financial resources, and work planning.
  • •Lead research on best practices for programme implementation and manage monitoring, evaluation, and reporting for key performance indicators.
  • •Serve as a technical reference for peer communities, UN agencies, and stakeholders; coordinate partnerships and represent the programme at meetings; provide technical leadership during epidemic and pandemic events.

Key Requirements

  • •Advanced university degree (Master’s level) in medicine, or a Master’s level degree in public health, infectious diseases, or epidemiology.
  • •Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in the prevention and control of Emerging Zoonoses and High Impact Epidemics, including health policies and strategies.
  • •Demonstrated experience managing human and financial resources and experience at the international level.
  • •Strong skills in planning and coordinating multidisciplinary public health programmes and in developing policies and strategies.
  • •Expert knowledge of English; desirable intermediate knowledge of French.
