Job Summary

Serve as a senior RMS discipline chief within the Product Safety and Sustainability organization, ensuring consistent and state-of-the-art safety engineering practices across key Collins Aerospace portfolios. Lead resolution of critical safety issues, approve RMS plans during gate/milestone reviews, and harmonize processes, tools, and training. Coordinate discipline steering initiatives, lead working groups, contribute to industry standards committees, mentor engineers, and partner with customers to advance RMS capabilities enterprise-wide.

Key Responsibilities

•Act as an RMS Discipline Chief for key business portfolio(s) and ensure technical quality, regulatory compliance, and customer specification adherence.
•Approve RMS plans and engage with programs during gate/milestone reviews.
•Contribute to and help lead harmonization efforts through the RMS Discipline Steering Council (DSC), including methods, training, and tools.
•Lead working groups and develop and instruct safety training within the RMS discipline and across engineering disciplines.
•Lead significant development and in-service safety issue resolution, partner with customers, and provide oversight and mentorship for RMS Discipline Chiefs and program leads; assess gaps and roadmap solutions; travel up to 25% domestic.

Key Requirements

•Typically requires a STEM degree and minimum 12 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree with minimum 10 years of experience.
•Experience and knowledge across aircraft systems.
•Experience performing safety assessment processes at aircraft, system, and product levels, including aircraft certification and working with aircraft OEMs and airworthiness authorities.
•Experience in leading large teams of reliability, maintainability, and safety analysts.
•Application of safety and development assurance standards and regulations (e.g., 1309/ARP4761/ARP4754/MIL-STD-882E; CAFTA or similar fault tree tools; DO-254/DO-178/DO-297) and Microsoft Office tools.
