Join a real-time streaming backend team to own the stability and pluggability of the StreamModule pipeline (VAD → STT → LLM → TTS → Transport). Consolidate BullMQ into Kafka, harden provider abstractions, instrument with OpenTelemetry, and shore up Postgres SPOFs to enable rapid model/provider integration without touching core.

Key Responsibilities

•30 Day: Ramp on the StreamModule pipeline and the cork/uncork backpressure model; review Oct 15/22 incidents and land a scoped pipeline or provider-abstraction improvement.
•60 Day: Own a slice of BullMQ → Kafka consolidation; ship event-driven instrumentation for at least one pipeline stage; harden one provider plugin path for easy model addition.
•90 Day: Drive a measurable reliability or latency win on the call path and serve as the backend owner for design reviews on new providers and pipeline changes.
•Collaborate across teams to consolidate and improve the streaming stack, ensuring low-latency, high-availability calls across the pipeline.
•Define and implement provider abstractions (LLM, STT, TTS) that decouple model integrations from core codebase.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: USD 180,000 - 265,000 annually

•You have opinions on queue architectures (BullMQ, Kafka, Temporal) and when each is the right fit.
•You’ve built plugin or adapter architectures with decoupled implementations.
•You’ve operated PostgreSQL at scale (connection pooling, read replicas, migrations).
•You instrument with OpenTelemetry and think in terms of event-driven traces, not just logs.
