Job Summary

Design and model integrated photonic components and photonic chips for RF integrated photonics devices and subsystems. Own tasks from foundry-based layout through post-fabrication assembly, test setup, and benchtop testing, supporting R&D programs. Perform architectural trade studies for wideband RF and hybrid electronic-photonic systems, contribute to technical volumes and IRAD, and collaborate across engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, customers, and program leadership.

Key Responsibilities

•Initiate and contribute to the design, simulation/modeling, and layout of integrated photonic components in a foundry-based fabrication environment.
•Contribute to post-fabrication post-processing/assembly, test setup, and benchtop testing of integrated photonic components, subsystems, and systems.
•Conduct architectural trade studies for systems and sub-systems related to wideband RF and hybrid electronic-photonic components.
•Contribute to technical volumes for white papers and proposals and support independent research and development (IRAD) projects.
•Be accountable for technical decisions and communicate with program management, engineering leadership, manufacturing, suppliers, and customers.

Key Requirements

•Typically requires a STEM degree and 8 years of prior relevant experience.
•Experience designing integrated photonic circuits and/or photonic chips.
•Advanced degree (MS or PhD) in Physics, Optics, Photonics, Circuits, Signal Processing, or related fields.
•Hands-on experience with silicon photonics platforms and integrated photonics technologies (Silicon, Silicon Nitride, and/or compound semiconductors).
•Proficiency with photonic design and simulation tools (e.g., Ansys Lumerical, Synopsys Optocompiler, KLayout) and experience developing test plans.
