Job Summary

Own weld quality for ultra-high-purity (UHP) gas delivery system fabrication used in semiconductor process equipment. Develop and qualify WPS/PQR, establish welder/operator qualification, and serve as the site subject matter expert on relevant SEMI standards. Ensure cleanroom weld execution, perform visual/boroscopic/dimensional inspections, lead root-cause and corrective actions, and oversee metallurgical requirements for 316L stainless steel and UHP alloys.

Key Responsibilities

•Develop, qualify, and maintain welding procedure specifications (WPS) and procedure qualification records (PQR) for orbital GTAW of UHP gas systems.
•Establish and audit welder/operator qualification programs for orbital and manual welding personnel.
•Serve as site subject matter expert on applicable SEMI standards governing UHP gas delivery hardware and weld acceptance.
•Own weld quality in cleanroom fabrication cells, including gowning discipline, purge gas control, surface finish verification, and contamination prevention.
•Perform visual, boroscopic, and dimensional weld inspections; drive root-cause analysis and corrective actions for weld discrepancies and nonconformances.

Key Requirements

•Bachelor’s degree in Welding Engineering, Materials/Metallurgical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent hands-on experience.
•5+ years of welding engineering or weld quality experience in semiconductor capital equipment, UHP gas systems, or similarly regulated high-purity fabrication environments.
•Working knowledge of SEMI standards including F78, F81, E49.8, and F70.
•Hands-on or oversight experience with orbital GTAW equipment (Arc Machines Inc. (AMI), Polysoude, Orbitalum, or comparable OEMs) including weld schedule development and machine qualification.
•Strong understanding of 316L stainless steel metallurgy for UHP applications, including electropolishing and cleanroom contamination control practices.
