Key Responsibilities

  • •Lead, develop, and coach the Technical Underwriting & Academy team for P&C underwriting and commercial insurance.
  • •Own and implement underwriting-quality, assurance, and governance concepts across all P&C lines of business and customer segments (for ~300 underwriters).
  • •Steer and develop the First Line Risk & Internal Control Framework and ensure meaningful reporting to management, risk management, compliance, and the group.
  • •Act as a strategic sparring partner for senior stakeholders and coordinate cross-functional initiatives with high business and regulatory relevance.
  • •Own the Underwriting Academy as a LoB-overarching training platform, including onboarding programs and initiatives that strengthen the international underwriting community.

Key Requirements

  • •University degree or solid insurance training with relevant further education; ideally several years of experience in underwriting, governance, assurance, risk & controls, or commercial insurance.
  • •Proven stakeholder management experience at C-level and demonstrated leadership of governance, regulatory, or cross-functional transformation projects; leadership experience is an advantage.
  • •Strong understanding of underwriting governance and First Line Risk & Internal Control Frameworks, including compliance requirements.
  • •Excellent conceptual, analytical, and communication skills to translate complex topics into management-ready, actionable measures.
  • •Fluency in German and English, plus motivation to develop technical excellence, learning, and community-building through the Underwriting Academy.
