Job Summary

Develop and execute testing for integrated photonic components, sub-systems, and systems from die (PICs) through wafer and sub-assembly levels. Implement test methodologies to evaluate photonic device performance using optical and environmental parameters, support selection of photonic/RF and mixed-signal components, and perform architectural trade studies for wideband hybrid electronic-photonic systems. Design test fixtures, help expand benchtop capabilities, and mentor teams supporting advanced technology programs.

Key Responsibilities

•Develop and conduct testing for integrated photonic components, sub-systems, and systems at die, wafer, and sub-assembly levels.
•Implement test methodologies to evaluate photonic device performance based on optical and environmental design specifications.
•Contribute to selecting COTS/custom photonic components, RF electronics, mixed-signal electronics, and embedded/digital signal processing solutions for wideband development programs.
•Design mechanical fixtures and identify accessories to enhance and expand benchtop test capabilities.
•Provide guidance, coaching, mentoring, and training to employees across the business in areas of expertise.

Key Requirements

•Typically requires a STEM degree and 8 years of prior relevant experience.
•Lab experience in optical engineering tests, including optical alignment systems, fiber-waveguide coupling, and/or design verification testing.
•Experience in silicon photonics, optoelectronics, and/or MEMS R&D and related photonics product development.
•Proficiency in programming languages for test automation and accurate, efficient data acquisition.
•Experience in RF testing and characterization of photonic devices, including tunable lasers, OSAs, switches, and attenuators.
