Job Summary

Support the Mechanical Systems, Externals, and Nacelles Structures Team by performing structural analysis for next-generation military propulsion systems. Conduct strength, deflection, vibration, fatigue life, and damage tolerance evaluations using finite element analysis and classical methods. Reduce and analyze engine/rig test data, perform field investigations, document results, and present conclusions to Pratt & Whitney leadership and external customers while providing on-site or remote test coverage.

Key Responsibilities

•Perform structural analysis across preliminary design, detailed design, development testing and validation, certification, delivery support, and post engine production/service support.
•Evaluate MSEN component health during engine validation testing (engine and rig), including test data reduction and analysis to confirm test objectives.
•Support field investigations and use finite element analysis and classical methods to evaluate strength, deflection, vibration, fatigue life, and damage tolerance.
•Serve as the Structures representative on multidisciplinary teams, balancing durability, performance, cost, and weight in design solutions.
•Document and present analysis results to Pratt & Whitney management and external customers, including as-needed on-site or remote engine test coverage.

Key Requirements

•Earn a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field with 5 years of relevant structural analysis experience, or an advanced degree with 3 years of relevant experience.
•Relevant experience performing structural analysis.
•Experience with aerospace propulsion or turbofan engines.
•Proficiency using ANSYS Workbench, ANSYS Classic, and finite element methods.
•Perform hand calculations to validate FEA.
