Provide expert sanctions advisory and first-line escalation support for complex Level 2/Level 3 cases, including transaction reviews, trade finance deals, and high-risk client onboardings. Monitor major sanctions guidance (OFSI/HM Treasury, OFAC, EU, UN), analyze designations and licenses, and help improve group policy via SOPs and advisory notes. Lead deep-dive investigations into potential breaches, deliver targeted sanctions training, and partner with screening/system teams to optimize false-positive and true-match handling.

Key Responsibilities

•Serve as the SME and first-line defense point of escalation for complex sanctions cases, reviewing and adjudicating Level 2/Level 3 escalations.
•Continuously monitor sanctions updates from major authorities and analyze the impact of designations, general licenses, and sectoral sanctions on operations.
•Support sanctions policy governance by drafting and updating SOPs and advisory notes for effective implementation by business units.
•Conduct deep-dive investigations into potential sanctions breaches and complex matches, including multi-jurisdictional supply chains and UBO/evasion typologies.
•Develop and deliver real-world sanctions training and collaborate with sanctions screening/system teams to tune screening logic and reduce friction from false positives.

Key Requirements

•3-5+ years in financial crime compliance with a dedicated focus on sanctions advisory, complex alert adjudication, or sanctions investigations.
•Deep working knowledge of international sanctions regimes (especially OFAC, OFSI, and EU) and the legal concepts behind asset freezing, ownership/control, and sectoral restrictions.
•Ability to investigate corporate registries to unwrap complex UBO structures.
•Familiarity with sanctions screening platforms (LexisNexis, Dow Jones, FircoSoft) and case management systems.
•Strong ability to interpret dense legal/regulatory text and translate it into clear business guidance, including drafting advisory opinions and memos.
