Key Responsibilities

  • •Provide technical assistance and guidance for planning, design, and construction support of utility transmission and distribution substations.
  • •Create and support substation design deliverables (drawings, one-line/three-line diagrams, AC/DC schematics, wiring diagrams, cable schedules) and documentation including specifications and calculation packages.
  • •Collect, compile, and analyze equipment selection and specifications for procurement package development and IFR/IFC/As-Built design/review processes.
  • •Review third-party substation design deliverables and project plans, and coordinate decisions with clients, utilities, and stakeholders.
  • •Support design of grounding grid systems and lightning protection, perform calculations (e.g., station service/load, voltage drop, lighting), and conduct site walkdowns/field verification as needed for engineering/field clarifications.

Key Requirements

  • •Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent experience).
  • •3 to 5 years of relevant post-education experience in electrical engineering supporting utility substation design.
  • •Knowledge of electrical engineering principles and the application to design and project work issues.
  • •Working knowledge of utility standards/specifications and applicable codes/standards used for substation design (e.g., IEEE, NESC).
  • •Experience coordinating planning, design, and construction activities, including rehabilitation and new design.
