Key Responsibilities

•Data Center Heat Rejection and HVAC System Design: Develop and design heat rejection and HVAC systems for data centers with considerations for air-cooled or direct fluid cooled configurations, loads, future flexibility, redundancy, energy efficiency, and standards compliance.
•Cooling System Selection: Select air/water side cooling systems (Fan wall units, CRAHs, chilled water, DX, CRAC, in-row cooling) based on data center needs and equipment criticality.
•CFD Analysis: Conduct internal CFD simulations to optimize airflow, hotspots, and overall cooling; coordinate model preparation and analyze results with other trades.
•Redundancy and Fault Tolerance: Design HVAC with redundancy and fault-tolerance, including backup cooling, automatic switchover, and monitoring.
•Heat Load Calculation and Capacity Planning: Perform heat load calculations and capacity planning for IT equipment, power density, growth, and phasing; include admin/common areas.

Travel: Low travel

•Bachelor's Degree with 8+ years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and or education.
•Experience in data center mechanical and electrical equipment installation and operation.
•P. E. registration is required.
•Preferred qualifications include a bachelor's in mechanical/HVAC engineering; master's degree or advanced coursework in HVAC or energy management; knowledge of TER Standard Topology as per Uptime Institute, TIA 942, ANSI/BICSI 002; professional HVAC certifications (e.g., CEM, BEMP, LEED).
