Job Summary

Join the Water team to deliver flood hydrological assessments that support flood alleviation schemes, flood risk assessments, and Environment Agency mapping. Apply FEH/REFH2 to estimate flood flows across England, produce technical reports, and use GIS tools like ArcGIS Pro and QGIS. You’ll also technically review internal hydrology work, calibrate hydraulic models with modellers, and stay current on evolving methodologies and guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

•Produce flood hydrological assessments supporting flood alleviation schemes, flood risk assessments, and Environment Agency flood maps.
•Apply FEH guidance to estimate flood flows across catchment types throughout England.
•Produce high-quality technical reports.
•Use GIS tools (ArcGIS Pro and QGIS) to support hydrological work and technical outputs.
•Technically review hydrological assessments produced within AECOM and calibrate/update hydrological analysis through collaboration with hydraulic modellers.

Key Requirements

•Evidence of experience estimating flood flows using FEH and REFH2.
•Deep understanding of statistical hydrological analysis.
•Experience working with hydraulic modellers to calibrate hydraulic models.
•Experience producing flood hydrological assessments and/or contributing to rating reviews.
•Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering (or relevant discipline) and working towards Chartered membership of ICE or CIWEM.
