Key Responsibilities

  • •Lead the lab fit-out and operational readiness from shell to working laboratory, including benching, ventilation, power, cold storage, extraction, safety systems, contractors, and timelines.
  • •Install and commission the instrument fleet by coordinating delivery, installation, qualification, and handover for equipment such as array-SPR, BLI, and liquid handlers with vendors and the automation team.
  • •Build the lab operating infrastructure, including inventory/procurement, shipping and cold chain, maintenance schedules, service contracts, chemical handling, and waste management.
  • •Own lab safety and compliance by establishing processes, documentation, risk assessments, notifications, and permits required to operate the London site safely and compliantly.
  • •Build and manage the lab operations team and run daily site performance—uptime, throughput, inventory, maintenance, safety, and continuous improvement.

Key Requirements

  • •Have built or expanded a laboratory—leading a fit-out, site move, major equipment installation, or new lab launch.
  • •Have deep, hands-on lab operations experience, ideally in high-throughput, automation-heavy biotech or life-science environments.
  • •Have a strong life-sciences background; a degree and/or significant experience in biology, biochemistry, bioengineering, or a related field is preferred.
  • •Have owned laboratory safety and compliance, including safety processes, permitting, and documentation to make a UK site compliant.
  • •Be strong with vendors and contractors, managing instrument manufacturers, service engineers, and logistics to keep complex installation and operations on track.
