Job Summary

Provide civil engineering technical leadership for data centre and critical infrastructure projects, from due diligence and masterplanning through detailed design and construction support. Own design governance and approve civil infrastructure designs and specifications for site development, earthworks, drainage, pavements, access and utility works. Collaborate with UK and global multidisciplinary teams across disciplines, support client engagement and asset reviews, and mentor civil engineers to grow delivery capability across EMEA.

Key Responsibilities

•Provide civil engineering technical leadership and design governance for data centre and critical infrastructure projects, ensuring compliance with standards and regulatory requirements.
•Lead, review and approve civil engineering infrastructure designs and specifications, developing buildable solutions for site development, earthworks, drainage, pavements, access, and utility infrastructure.
•Coordinate with multidisciplinary civil and technical specialists to support delivery across the project portfolio in the UK and globally.
•Support client engagement, business development, asset reviews, and expansion or upgrade strategies within the Data Centres sector.
•Mentor and develop civil engineers to strengthen AECOM’s technical capability in data centres across EMEA.

Key Requirements

•Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or a related discipline, with a strong technical foundation in infrastructure design and delivery for data centre clients.
•Chartered Engineer (CEng MICE or equivalent) or operating at chartered level with evidence of professional standing and leadership.
•Proven experience leading complex civil infrastructure projects, ideally within data centres, mission-critical, industrial, or large-scale development sectors.
•Strong working knowledge of planning, highways, drainage, and utility approval processes, including engagement with Local Authorities, statutory bodies, and utility providers.
•Demonstrated capability operating as Design Lead / Technical Authority within large multidisciplinary teams, providing governance, technical assurance, and risk management.
