Key Responsibilities

  • •Collect data and complete feed conversion house and brood feed house checklists, including weighing birds, adding feed, recording results, and monitoring controls for temperature and humidity.
  • •Perform dissection laboratory data collection: euthanize birds, dissect per accepted protocols, visually score defects, measure with a caliper, and enter weights/defects into tablet or computer.
  • •Follow routine hygiene and biosecure procedures, including cleaning and disinfecting equipment, disposing of dead birds/dissect birds, and maintaining house setup and housekeeping tasks.
  • •Segregate birds by line and sex, place/remand birds into cages per schedules, examine birds for illness signs, and report problems to lead or manager.
  • •Perform additional duties such as collecting swab samples, maintaining foot bath/sanitizers and cleaning supplies, and supporting safety and PPE requirements.

Key Requirements

  • •Must have at least 12 months of consecutive work history with one employer and no employment gaps greater than 6 months in the past 36 months.
  • •If laid off or providing child/elder care, employment gap may be increased to 18 months; previous work history doesn’t apply to full-time students for the last 36 months.
  • •Basic computer skills for inputting dissection and data information via tablet.
  • •Willingness to follow biosecurity/animal welfare requirements, including showering and changing clothing/footwear before entering the facility, and signing required agreements.
  • •Ability to meet physical demands, including safe lifting and standing/walking and repetitive movements as required.
