Own and maintain the Rolling Mill Level 1 Automation system (hardware and software), ensuring safe, timely operation and smooth integration with Level 2. Drive availability by reducing electrical/automation-related downtime, planning corrective/preventive work orders, and coordinating with condition monitoring and production to optimize shutdown schedules, spare parts, reporting, and root-cause problem solving in a steel plant environment.

Key Responsibilities

•Maintain and modify the Rolling Mill Level 1 Automation system to ensure smooth, safe functionality and correct integration with Level 2.
•Maximize plant availability by keeping electrical/automation-related unscheduled delays within budget targets.
•Review and plan automation maintenance work orders (corrective vs preventive), and coordinate with condition monitoring for corrective and predictive maintenance.
•Lead troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and technical support for major non-routine plant/process problems to minimize line downtime.
•Ensure safety and regulatory compliance (HSEQ) through audits and adherence to integrated management system procedures, while guiding and training the maintenance team.

Key Requirements

•Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical/Electronic/Instrumentation Engineering.
•Trained on automation systems for Rolling Mills, including Siemens PLC and the Ansaldo Drive Control System.
•In excess of 8-10 years automation maintenance experience in a steel plant, including 4 years as Drives & Automation Engineer in a rolling mill.
•Working experience in Middle-east countries, familiar with rules and regulations and climatic conditions.
•Health & Safety compliance systems experience.
