Job Summary

Perform certified DOT inspections, preventative maintenance, and advanced repairs on trailers in a dedicated on-site shop environment. Diagnose and triage complex issues, handle routine maintenance, welding and fabrication, and complete accurate repair documentation for DOT forms and Repair Orders. Work with the Service Writer and Parts Department to obtain parts and communicate repair findings. Maintain shop tools, equipment, and safety compliance with OSHA, EPA, and DOT.

Key Responsibilities

•Perform DOT inspections and preventative maintenance on light, medium, and heavy-duty vehicles in a shop environment.
•Diagnose, adjust, and repair trailer systems including brakes, air lines, auxiliary pumps and engines, liftgates, brake chambers, steering systems, welding, and fabrication.
•Complete documentation for Repair Orders and DOT forms, including uploading photos of work performed using a company device and/or Karmak application.
•Maintain a clean and safe work environment and follow OSHA, EPA, and DOT requirements, including participating in required safety training.
•Independently determine required parts for jobs and coordinate with the Shop Parts Department and Service Writer to address customer needs and repair estimates.

Key Requirements

•High School Diploma/GED and 5 years’ experience in a related field (or alternative combinations such as degree/certification and 3 years’ experience, or 7 years’ experience).
•Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary to perform job duties.
•OEM training and certifications are preferred.
•Complete all-in company required safety training.
•Must be at least 21 years or older due to interstate operating authority/commercial regulations.
