Job Summary

Lead hydrological assessments that support flood risk management, major infrastructure planning, water resources strategy, and environmental permitting. Provide technical leadership by reviewing and verifying flood-flow and low-flow analysis, calibrating hydraulic models, and producing rating reviews. Work with clients across UK and internationally, mentor team members, and drive innovation including AI-enabled solutions within AECOM’s Water team.

•Technically lead or verify flood hydrological assessments used for flood alleviation schemes, reservoir engineering, and flood risk assessments.
•Technically review or verify reports documenting hydrological assessments.
•Support Water team business development for national and international client projects.
•Mentor team members in hydrological estimation to support professional development.
•Deliver thought leadership, represent AECOM at conferences, and drive innovation including AI solutions.

Key Requirements

•Degree (BSc/BEng/MSc) in Hydrology, Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, Geography, or related discipline.
•More than 15 years’ experience leading the estimation of flood flows using FEH and REFH2 for flood mapping and reservoir engineering.
•Deep understanding of statistical hydrological analysis and experience with hydraulic modellers to calibrate hydraulic models.
•Experience in rating reviews.
•Chartered member of ICE or CIWEM, with strong GIS skills using QGIS, ArcGIS and/or MapInfo.
