Job Summary

Ensure safe, efficient pit operations as “the Eyes of the Pit,” partnering with Central Control and supporting Production Supervisors. Survey and refine roads, dumps, and locations; respond to AHS/AHT faults and obstacle detection events; monitor fleet performance and communicate hazards and production constraints. Assist dig unit operators with operational improvements, perform post-blast inspections and signage duties, and deliver training while engaging in continuous improvement initiatives.

Job Function: Field Service, Maintenance & Skilled Trades

Key Responsibilities

•Undertake daily pre-task Risk Assessments and perform tasks in accordance with RTIO safety standards while championing a strong safety culture.
•Support production leadership with PSI activities, leadership in field interactions, attending Plan of Day and grade control meetings, and collaborating with Central Controller throughout shifts.
•Attend and correct AHT faults and obstacle detection events; monitor fleet performance; identify hazards and communicate safety/production constraints to supervisors/central control.
•Survey and refine roads, dumps and locations for safe and efficient haulage; manage taught courses and ensure dumping/dig locations are secured and demarcated.
•Assist dig unit operators to improve spot times, monitor windrow heights and post-blast inspections, handle pit signage duties, escort unequipped vehicles safely, and provide training while engaging in continuous improvement.

Key Requirements

•Experience as a Pit Patroller is essential to thrive in this role, or equivalent experience in similar roles, step-up positions, or Central Control.
•Familiarity with systems like Frontrunner or Minestar.
•An Australian C Class manual drivers’ licence or higher.
•Commitment to the safety of yourself and your team and ability to work safely and cooperatively in a team.
•Must currently be residing in WA and have proof of permanent Australian residency with full working rights without the need for sponsorship.
