Key Responsibilities

  • •Develop/Review System Specifications: Design and build detailed specifications for automation systems integrated with Industry 4.0 infrastructure, including IoT-enabled devices, smart sensors, and data platforms for predictive maintenance, quality control, and supply chain optimization.
  • •Automation Standards Expertise: Apply knowledge of automation standards (IEC 61131, ISO 50001, JIS B 8430) to ensure compliance and efficiency in production lines.
  • •Convey End-User Needs: Bridge between manufacturing teams and external systems integrators, translating business requirements into technical scopes, RFPs, and implementation plans.
  • •OT Protocol Implementation: Configure and integrate OT protocols (OPC UA, MQTT, EtherNet/IP) for secure data exchange between shop-floor equipment and enterprise systems.
  • •Project Management and Alignment: Lead cross-functional projects to align a new project in Japan with Sika’s global transformation strategy; include automation and real-time monitoring.

Key Requirements

  • •Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
  • •5+ years in manufacturing engineering with experience in Automation or Digitalization in Industry.
  • •Experience in design, implementation, operation, and improvement of two or more: MES, SCADA, DCS, WMS, TMS.
  • •Excellent management and communication abilities to align diverse teams and present complex concepts to non-technical audiences; bilingual in Japanese and English.
  • •Ability to translate business requirements into technical scopes, RFPs, and implementation plans for digital tool adoption.
