Job Summary

Design, build, and run a robust data platform for large-scale AI research and production systems. Own the data lake end to end—ingesting heterogeneous financial and market datasets, handling schema drift, backfills, and vendor failures, and enforcing point-in-time correctness, lineage, and versioning. Create trusted, AI-native data products (models, catalogs, and APIs) and partner with research and engineering to turn ambiguous needs into durable data capabilities.
Location: San Francisco, New York
Workplace: Hybrid
Employment Type: Full time
Job Function: Software Engineering
Seniority: Mid level

Key Responsibilities

  • •Own the data platform end to end: ingestion, storage, transformation, cataloging, governance, and access across research and production.
  • •Build reliable pipelines to onboard large heterogeneous datasets and handle schema changes, late data, revisions, backfills, and vendor failures.
  • •Ensure research-grade correctness using point-in-time data, lineage, versioning, and reproducibility while preventing look-ahead and survivorship bias.
  • •Create trusted data products by normalizing identifiers, timestamps, corporate actions, reference data, and unstructured sources into accessible datasets and APIs.
  • •Enable AI-native systems with permission-aware interfaces, metadata, datasets, and benchmarks for researchers and agents.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: USD 150,000 - 275,000 annually

Key Requirements

  • •Exceptional software and data engineering skills, including strong Python and SQL, plus experience with distributed processing and modern data infrastructure.
  • •Demonstrated ability to design, deploy, operate, and improve business-critical data systems at scale.
  • •Expertise in temporal data: revisions, event time vs knowledge time, reproducibility, and point-in-time querying.
  • •Strong data judgment for messy, changing, unstructured, or adversarial data, with rigor around correctness, provenance, and privacy.
  • •Experience using coding agents daily to build safe, well-described, machine-consumable data systems; financial-data experience is strongly preferred.
