Job Summary

Lead IP counsel work for the business by driving IP engagement and advising senior leaders, engineers, and commercial teams on patents, trade secrets, trademarks, and copyrights. Negotiate and advise on IP agreements, develop IP strategies across product development, assess infringement and validity risks, and oversee related litigation. Collaborate with engineers and outside counsel on invention disclosures and patent prosecution, while improving IP processes using internal and third-party tools.

Key Responsibilities

•Drive IP engagement within the business and provide timely advice on IP matters, including patents, trade secrets, trademarks, copyrights, and related disputes.
•Negotiate and advise on IP agreements and IP aspects of broader agreements with customers, suppliers, and partners.
•Collaborate on IP strategies for key enterprises, products, and technologies aligned to business objectives throughout product development.
•Identify protectable inventions and oversee invention disclosures, patent application preparation/prosecution, and trade secret protection with engineers and outside counsel.
•Monitor third-party patents and competitor products for infringement/validity risk and advise on potential issues and litigation as required.

Key Requirements

•Must have a Juris doctor (JD) degree.
•Must have a USPTO Registration Number.
•Admitted to the Bar in one or more U.S. states.

•5+ years of IP legal experience.
