Key Responsibilities

  • •Develop concept and outline design proposals for rail maintenance, renewal, and enhancement projects.
  • •Integrate civil engineering designs with other railway skill areas such as signalling and permanent way.
  • •Plan the phasing of construction and commissioning to minimise disruption to passengers and the public.
  • •Ensure designs are safe to build, operate, and maintain while maximising sustainability outcomes over the asset lifecycle.
  • •Work on structural inspection, assessment, and design of bridges and other railway structures, including analysis and calculation for new civil and structural components.

Key Requirements

  • •BEng in Civil Engineering with a 2:1 (or equivalent).
  • •MEng in Civil Engineering with a 2:1 (or equivalent) would be an advantage.
  • •Modules in Rail would be an advantage.
  • •Enthusiastic, hard-working, technically proficient, with ambition and drive.
  • •Good Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel & PowerPoint) and effective communication with clients and stakeholders.
