Key Responsibilities

  • •Review and analyze will and trust agreements and related fiduciary documents when the bank serves in a fiduciary capacity.
  • •Provide legal counsel to management and internal partners across Wealth Management on trust, estate, guardianship, and complex trust/fiduciary legal issues.
  • •Serve as a resource for ongoing trust, estate, and guardianship administration and answer legal questions that arise.
  • •Analyze proposals to modify or terminate trusts to assess legal risk and advise internal stakeholders including the Chief Fiduciary Officer.
  • •Oversee and monitor trust and estate litigation involving the bank in a fiduciary capacity and collaborate with internal and external litigation teams.

Key Requirements

  • •J.D. degree from an accredited law school and ability to meet attorney licensing requirements for the jurisdiction prior to and after commencing employment.
  • •Admitted to practice law in Florida and in good standing with the Florida Bar.
  • •10+ years of experience in trust and estate matters in a major law firm or in-house practice.
  • •Strong knowledge of trust and estate law, including estate, gift, and generation-skipping transfer tax rules, to advise on legal risks and compliance.
  • •Excellent drafting/negotiation and analytical skills to review wills, trusts, and related fiduciary agreements and handle a wide range of trust and fiduciary matters independently.
