Job Function: Hardware, Embedded & Systems Engineering

Key Responsibilities

•Lead the design and development of electrical systems including power distribution (low/medium voltage), lighting, emergency/standby power, grounding/bonding/protection, fire alarm and life safety, security, surveillance, and AV system integration; perform calculations and prepare technical documentation.
•Manage electrical scope through all construction phases from tender through project closeout; review shop drawings, RFIs, submittals, and change orders; conduct field reviews to verify design intent and standards.
•Coordinate with contractors/consultants and internal teams to resolve design and construction issues; monitor schedules and deliverables for successful project execution.
•Provide technical guidance and mentorship to technologists, EITs, and junior engineers; support value engineering and constructability reviews.
•Design and review fire alarm and life safety systems; coordinate testing and commissioning with contractors/AHJs; ensure compliance with municipal and provincial requirements.

Travel: Low travel

Salary: CAD 105,000 - 145,000 annually

Key Requirements

•Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering plus 6 years of experience managing multiple projects for commercial, institutional, and light industrial clients; proven experience in contract administration and project delivery.
•In-depth knowledge of Canadian Electrical Code (CEC), Alberta Building Code, National Building Code; LEED and sustainable design; applicable CSA and ULC standards.
•Valid Class 5 driver's license (travel to project sites required) and ability to obtain security clearance (Police/RCMP Reliability Status).
•Preferred: 10+ years of progressive electrical design and construction support; registered or eligible for P.Eng. with APEGA; strong experience in electrical consulting and building systems design.
•Hybrid work model: office, home, and project sites; travel within Alberta and occasional out-of-province travel.
