Key Responsibilities

  • •Automate maneuvering for USVs/UUVs by building motion planning capabilities that adhere to safety constraints, including keep-out volumes, cooperative/uncooperative vehicles, and depth limitations.
  • •Develop localization and tracking approaches using sensor fusion and observability-aware maneuvering to maximize information from single- or multi-agent sensor networks.
  • •Create autonomous behavior architectures that keep vehicle safety central, including run-time assurance and COLREGS adherence.
  • •Develop and deploy high-performance, well-tested software modules with clear interfaces, supporting integration and demonstration events and analyzing mission logs.
  • •Collaborate cross-functionally (perception, planning, simulation, hardware, operational test) and contribute to autonomy R&D roadmaps through algorithm prototyping and capability gap identification.

Key Requirements

  • •BS/MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, and/or related experience.
  • •Minimum 10 years with a Bachelor’s, 9 years with a Master’s, or 7 years with a PhD (or equivalent experience).
  • •Proficiency in C++ and Python.
  • •Strong background in robotics technologies including control systems, motion planning, optimization, tactical behaviors, and/or distributed decision-making.
  • •Experience with unmanned systems (ideally maritime), simulation tools/environments (e.g., AFSIM/NGTS), and the ability to obtain a SECRET clearance or higher.
