Job Summary

Deliver flood risk modelling projects for internal and external clients within WSP’s UK Water Team. Lead hydraulic and hydrological (1d–2d) modelling, flood risk assessments, option appraisal studies, and GIS-based desk studies using industry tools. Provide technical QA through reviewing work produced by the team, guide junior colleagues, and independently resolve technical issues while applying project management procedures and supporting proposal development.

Key Responsibilities

•Independently deliver flood modelling projects and provide technical support to ensure accurate and efficient project delivery for internal and external clients.
•Lead hydraulic modelling and flood risk based studies (including 1d–2d hydraulic modelling, hydrology, and flood risk assessments).
•Provide thorough guidance to junior colleagues on flood risk assessments, option appraisal studies, flood alleviation schemes, and GIS-based desk studies.
•Review detailed project reports and technical notes, and apply reviewing/QA procedures to validate technical work.
•Apply project management procedures, BMS and proposal development, including financial management and monitoring project financials and programme adherence.

Key Requirements

•Master’s Degree in Water Resources Engineering or equivalent.
•Strong experience in flood risk management projects, including hydraulic modelling and hydrology, with preferably exposure to UK policy, standards, specifications and tools (minimum 8 years desirable).
•Demonstrated experience across flood risk management and UK Water Industry domains, including 1d–2d hydraulic modelling, hydrological modelling, and flood risk assessment.
•Strong experience with UK modelling software such as Flood Modeller Pro, TUFLOW, Estry, Infoworks ICM, HEC-RAS 1d–2d, QGIS, and ArcGIS.
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills, plus MS Office and/or PowerBI, with ability to independently lead and resolve technical issues.
