Job Summary

Build Cyera’s next-generation lakehouse data platform end to end—owning Spark-on-Kubernetes infrastructure, Apache Iceberg + AWS Glue catalog storage, and Airflow orchestration. Develop developer enablement frameworks and CI/CD/GitOps delivery so other engineers can ship production Spark jobs quickly. Design scalable batch/streaming pipelines and event-driven flows (Kafka), while continuously balancing cost vs performance through right-sizing, partitioning, compaction, and cost attribution.

Key Responsibilities

•Design, deploy, and operate a Spark-on-Kubernetes compute platform including autoscaling, resource tuning, and multi-tenancy.
•Own the lakehouse storage layer using Apache Iceberg and AWS Glue catalog, covering table design, partitioning, compaction, schema evolution, and retention.
•Build and operate Airflow orchestration with DAG standards, deployment flows, environment promotion, and reliability.
•Create developer enablement frameworks, libraries, and templates so other engineers can launch production-grade Spark jobs quickly.
•Design scalable batch and streaming pipelines (including Kafka-based event-driven flows) and lead backfills/migrations while balancing cost vs performance.

Key Requirements

•5+ years of software engineering experience building and operating large-scale data platforms.
•Hands-on experience with distributed processing (Spark strongly preferred), including performance tuning and production debugging.
•Experience deploying and operating workloads in Kubernetes-based environments.
•Proficiency in SQL and data modeling, including complex analytical queries, query tuning, and partitioning strategies.
•Solid software engineering fundamentals in Python (and/or Scala/Java), including testing, code review, and CI/CD.
