Job Summary

Redesign and extend Applied Materials’ existing UI packages for multi-physics computational modeling codes, improving user experience, robustness, performance, and workflow automation. Partner with users and domain experts to iterate on UI design artifacts, add functionality tied to Python scripting, and integrate with external AI/ML tools. You’ll unify UI packages into a single client-server/distributed architecture, enable CPU-GPU parallelization, and provide technical leadership to UI/UX and graphics developers.

Key Responsibilities

•Extend and modify existing UI packages to improve intuitiveness, support efficient workflows and automation, and incorporate additional functionality including Python scripting for model outputs and surrogate models.
•Redesign, refactor, and re-implement UI/UX packages to improve robustness, speed, and scalability for very large models, and enable CPU-GPU parallelization.
•Integrate and unify UI packages into a single unified package, implementing client-server and distributed computing architectures.
•Participate in all phases of the software lifecycle for several UI packages, including defining technical requirements, designing and implementing/testing code, and supporting documentation and maintenance extensions.
•Provide technical leadership and guidance to other UI/UX and graphics developers working on the UI/UX packages.

Key Requirements

•B.Sc., B.Tech, M.Sc, or M.Tech degree in computer science, applied mathematics, engineering, physics, or a computational simulation/modeling discipline.
•Proven UI design, development, and testing skills, including understanding and anticipating user needs, behaviors, and intentions to build user-centered interfaces.
•Expertise in Qt, JavaFX, Flutter, .NET, or similar UI desktop/mobile frameworks.
•Expertise in modern C/C++ and Python, including integrating C/C++ application functions with graphics components.
•Experience profiling, debugging, and parallelizing code on both CPUs and GPUs, plus familiarity with distributed system client-server UI development.
