Key Responsibilities

  • •Provide direction and input to the development team as a plastics expert, including assembly process development.
  • •Support transfer of designs to high-volume manufacturing using manufacturing feasibility and design-for-manufacturing principles.
  • •Perform material selection and prototype development for plastic components.
  • •Source and lead external suppliers for areas such as plastic injection molding, tooling, assembly equipment, and materials.
  • •Collaborate with internal and external manufacturing teams to develop robust manufacturing stations.

Key Requirements

  • •Degree in Plastics, Manufacturing, or Manufacturing Engineering.
  • •Understanding of plastic materials and rubbers, including medical-grade materials.
  • •Practical experience with plastic molding (e.g., injection molding, mold design, micro-molding, compression/transfer molding, LIM, blow molding, thermoforming).
  • •Understanding component assembly from prototype to high-volume manufacturing, including design of experiments, assembly fixture design, and assembly documentation (Ops, IQ/OQ/PQs, PFMEAs).
  • •Practical experience with plastics assembly methods such as ultrasonic welding, laser welding, and bonding techniques; medical device manufacturing requirements/testing is preferred.
