Job Summary

Lead the Agent Framework team responsible for the agent layer that powers Elastic Streams, owning architecture and setting the technical direction for how the agent ecosystem evolves. Design scalable systems, evaluate new technologies, and drive architectural reviews and technical decisions from design docs through stakeholder alignment. Collaborate with product management and cross-functional teams to prioritize features, mitigate risks, and deliver improvements that strengthen observability data collection and distributed performance.

Key Responsibilities

•Own architecture for the agent layer and set the technical direction for how it evolves to support the Streams model.
•Design scalable systems for the agent layer, evaluate new technologies for performance, and lead architectural discussions to drive decision-making.
•Provide technical guidance and support to team members, including code reviews and constructive feedback aligned to engineering best practices and quality standards.
•Engage with stakeholders to gather requirements, collaborate with product management to prioritize features based on stakeholder input.
•Facilitate cross-team collaboration, coordinate efforts, identify and mitigate risks, and adjust project plans as priorities or feedback change.

Salary: EUR 102,700 - 162,500

Key Requirements

•Proven experience as a technical lead or principal engineer on agent, daemon, or systems-level software projects at scale, including distributed deployments, versioning, and backward compatibility.
•Deep knowledge of observability data collection (metrics, logs, traces) and related protocols such as OTLP, Prometheus Remote Write, and syslog.
•Strong background in Go, with familiarity that Elastic Agent and Beats are primarily Go.
•Experience designing management and control planes for distributed software, including protocol-driven approaches like OpAMP.
•Track record leading large, multi-team technical initiatives from ambiguous design space through shipped software.
