Key Responsibilities

  • •Lead BESS Owner’s Engineer and technical advisory engagements across feasibility, procurement, contracting, design, construction, commissioning, and operation.
  • •Establish the sizing and performance basis using dispatch duty, grid requirements, site climate, operating strategy, reliability requirements, and lifecycle objectives.
  • •Prepare and review Principal’s requirements, technical schedules, and guarantees, including performance, availability, degradation, augmentation, throughput, and response capability.
  • •Lead tender evaluations by normalising competing offers and interrogating assumptions, exclusions, operating limits, design margins, augmentation strategies, lifecycle costs, and technical risks.
  • •Support contract negotiations on performance guarantees, test/acceptance methods, warranties, remedies, scope interfaces, long-term service obligations, and O&M/augmentation responsibilities; review BESS architectures and coordinate electrical/civil/fire/grid/operational interfaces and specialists.

Key Requirements

  • •8+ years of energy-sector experience with utility-scale BESS across development, procurement, delivery, or operation.
  • •Strong capability in BESS sizing and operating-duty definition (power/energy requirements, AC/DC boundaries, SoC windows, duration, cycling, throughput, degradation, augmentation).
  • •Detailed understanding of BESS performance criteria and guarantees (net power, usable energy, round-trip efficiency, auxiliary consumption, availability, response, thermal derating, warranty limits, acceptance testing).
  • •Experience preparing/reviewing procurement documentation, evaluating and normalising bids, performing technical due diligence, assessing departures, and supporting commercial negotiations.
  • •Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, power systems, or another relevant engineering discipline; either registered or working towards professional registration in Australia (e.g., RPEV/RPEQ) is highly desired.
