Job Summary

Design, deploy, and operate a production VMware vSphere virtualisation infrastructure that supports mission-critical meteorological satellite systems. Ensure 24/7 cluster stability, performance, and high availability, while managing compute, storage connectivity, and virtual networking. Own routine operations, upgrades, backup and disaster recovery testing, and on-call support. Drive automation and documentation, including integration work with Kubernetes and OpenStack/hybrid cloud architectures.

Key Responsibilities

•Monitor the virtualisation infrastructure, investigate hardware/software/performance issues, and act as the primary point of contact for VMware vSphere operations.
•Maintain VMware vSphere configuration baselines and system inventories; administer enterprise server platforms and blade chassis systems.
•Plan and execute VMware vSphere upgrades/reconfigurations and install/configure/optimise VMware vSphere, COTS software, and virtual infrastructure.
•Define and verify backup and recovery procedures for virtual machines and cluster configurations, including disaster recovery testing and failover validation.
•Develop automation scripts and procedures using tools such as Ansible, Chef, Puppet, and Terraform; support Kubernetes integration and hybrid cloud architectures with OpenStack.

Key Requirements

•Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
•At least 5 years of relevant professional experience.
•Expert-level experience administering VMware vSphere and managing clusters.
•Experience with enterprise server platforms (Cisco UCS, Dell, HPE ProLiant, Lenovo) and storage technologies (SAN, Ceph, GPFS).
•Knowledge of backup and disaster recovery, infrastructure security hardening, and TCP/IP networking.
