Job Summary

Design high-voltage electrical substations for power and energy projects, working under a Supervising Engineer within a multi-discipline team. Prepare substation plans, grounding and lightning protection layouts, and detailed installation drawings. Perform and document studies and calculations (load flow, short circuit, arc flash, grounding, TOV, transformer and cable sizing) using tools like ETAP and SKM. Coordinate design schedules, assist estimating with proposals, and support construction with site queries, inspections, and as-built documentation.

Key Responsibilities

•Provide electrical design activities for high-voltage substations in accordance with applicable codes, standards, and WSP policies.
•Prepare substation drawings and details including plans/profile views, grounding, lightning protection, lighting, cable trench/trays, conduit layouts, and installation drawings.
•Perform engineering studies and calculations (e.g., load flow, short circuit, arc flash, grounding, TOV, EMF, transformer and cable sizing) and produce clear written study reports.
•Develop technical specifications, evaluate vendor proposals, and review vendor drawings.
•Support project delivery by providing percent complete/estimated time to completion as requested, resolving site queries, attending site meetings, performing inspections, and maintaining completion packages/as-builts documentation.

•3-5 years of working experience in high-voltage substation design for renewable developers and electrical utility clients.
•Experience working in consulting firms.
•Eligible for P.E. licensing.
•Exceptional communication skills for client relations, project teams, and proposal/report development.
