Key Responsibilities

•Own and execute a company-wide patent roadmap prioritizing defensible, commercially critical inventions across robotics, AI, and hardware.
•Drive invention capture by embedding with engineering, AI, and hardware teams to surface patentable technology early and convert it into filed patents.
•Build and manage a portfolio that protects freedom to operate and creates leverage against competitors, tracking filing velocity and grant rate.
•Recommend and lead diligence for strategic patent acquisitions using landscape and competitive analysis.
•Establish an invention-by-invention trade secret protection program and stand up/grow the IP function as milestones warrant.

Salary: USD 270,000 - 330,000 annually

Key Requirements

•10+ years building and managing patent portfolios in hardware, robotics, AI, or another deep-tech domain (in-house or at a top firm).
•Hands-on expertise in patent drafting, prosecution strategy, and portfolio management for complex technical inventions.
•Ability to run patent landscaping, freedom-to-operate analysis, and competitive assessments to inform offensive and defensive decisions.
•Experience setting trade secret protection strategy alongside patents in a technical organization.
•A technical degree in engineering/computer science (or related) with working understanding of robotics, AI, mechatronics, or comparable systems.
