Job Summary

Own database and platform development for the Digital Transformation platform within MSI IT, translating business and IT needs into technical requirements. Lead the design and development of applications data and infrastructure, improve reliability, quality, and time-to-market, and measure/optimize performance. Provide engineering and support for large distributed applications and databases, triage complex issues, and guide peers and junior team members with testing, debugging, and design artifacts.

Key Responsibilities

•Interact with IT and business stakeholders to understand applications and data flow and translate needs into technical and functional requirements.
•Design and develop software systems to manage platform infrastructure and applications data for the Digital Transformation platform.
•Improve reliability, quality, and time-to-market by optimizing system performance and supporting continuous improvement.
•Provide support and engineering for multiple large distributed software applications and databases, including keeping systems up to date.
•Serve as technical lead on multiple initiatives, test/review work, give feedback, and mentor peers/junior team members while triaging complex issues.

Key Requirements

•Bachelor’s degree in computer science or another highly technical, scientific discipline.
•9+ years of software development experience using PostgreSQL, Oracle, MongoDB, SQL Server, and MySQL.
•Extensive RDBMS knowledge of DDL/DML SQLs and database objects such as stored procedures, functions, triggers, and views.
•Expertise using database administration and development tools such as Oracle SQL Developer, SQL Workbench, Oracle Toad, SQL Plus, pgAdmin4, Flyway, and DBeaver.
•Experience with database migrations/upgrades, performance improvement and data cleanup, and familiarity with CI/CD and DevOps tools (e.g., Bitbucket, Jenkins, Jira, Git, Confluence).
