Job Summary

Own the ideation, design, development, and deployment of Safeguards systems and related product UX to help advance frontier models safely. Partner with research and product teams to build detections, evals, interventions, and tools that measure and mitigate deployment and user risks across Claude.ai, 1P API, and external cloud platforms. Set priorities, define requirements from MVP to ideal state, and drive risk-focused metrics to inform future planning.

Key Responsibilities

•Determine how to build safety by design upstream and leverage downstream defenses across frontier models and AI product surfaces (Claude.ai, 1P API, external cloud providers).
•Write safety evals and communicate externally about safety.
•Set strategy through ruthless prioritization by defining problems, solution options, tradeoffs, and clear requirements toward MVP vs. ideal state.
•Align and collaborate with policy, enforcement, research, engineering, and cross-functional stakeholders.
•Lead development of metrics to understand performance and blindspots and plan mitigations for deployment risks posed by increasingly powerful models and adversaries.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: USD 305,000 - 385,000 annually

•5+ years in product management, with ability to get into the details on data, detections/interventions, infrastructure/tools, and/or evals.
•Ability to make technical tradeoff decisions, ideally across policy experts, AI/ML research engineers, and software engineering teams.
•Strong user understanding of how products are used and the Safeguards concerns that matter for the best solutions.
•Demonstrated experience designing and building metrics to evaluate risks, system performance, user impact, and making clear tradeoffs.
•Ability to plan, build, launch, and measure new products/systems in a zero-to-one environment.
