Key Responsibilities

  • •Provide legal counsel and operational risk management to ensure compliance with state and federal employment laws.
  • •Serve as legal point of contact for employment matters across multiple assigned CarMax regions.
  • •Advise on pay plans to CarMax payroll and compensation teams.
  • •Represent and defend CarMax in employment arbitration hearings and employment litigation.
  • •Represent and defend CarMax in regulatory investigations and actions before federal and state government agencies; collaborate on cross-functional legal projects and special initiatives.

Key Requirements

  • •Law degree.
  • •Member in good standing with the bar of a U.S. jurisdiction.
  • •Minimum 6 years of legal experience at a law firm and/or in-house legal department.
  • •Employment arbitration experience and/or equivalent employment trial or administrative hearing experience.
  • •Experience advising on traditional labor matters and proceedings before the NLRB (a plus).
