Key Responsibilities

  • •Draft, negotiate, and review complex commercial contracts and other legally binding documents.
  • •Advise on the interpretation and enforcement of contracts.
  • •Provide advice on regulatory issues, including the Retail Payments Activities Act and other regimes affecting Visa’s Canadian clients.
  • •Support regulatory compliance, including Visa’s relationship with FCAC and the Bank of Canada.
  • •Work on a significant number of matters within a small legal team, managing priorities and timelines.

Key Requirements

  • •8+ years of relevant experience.
  • •Juris Doctorate (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • •Current member in good standing of a State Bar with ability to become barred or registered in-house counsel in the state where the role is located.
  • •Admitted to Ontario Bar (JD or LLB with strong academic credentials).
  • •Experience drafting, negotiating, and interpreting complex commercial agreements and advising on regulations affecting the payments/financial services industry.
