Key Responsibilities

  • •Run laboratory diagnostic testing and perform acceptance testing using a range of platforms.
  • •Undertake pre-examination processes (sample receipt/booking-in) and ensure testing occurs within required timeframes.
  • •Supervise Medical Laboratory Assistants in your section and contribute to departmental training and teaching.
  • •Maintain internal quality control, document deviations, and investigate/report non-conformities and corrective/preventative actions.
  • •Generate technical reports, document and maintain Professional Development Plan, and ensure competency documentation meets ISO 15189 standards.

Key Requirements

  • •Biomedical Science degree (or equivalent) acceptable to the IBMS/HCPC for State Registration.
  • •State Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • •Post-registration experience in an integrated UKAS accredited blood sciences or immunology laboratory.
  • •Comprehensive practical and theoretical knowledge of medical laboratory science, including immunology and cell immunophenotyping.
  • •Ability to maintain quality and safety requirements, including ISO 15189 and adherence to COSHH, confidentiality, and Health & Safety procedures.
