Job Summary

Own Hong Kong profits tax, domestic minimum tax, and HK employment tax compliance and reporting for in-scope HSBC entities. Partner with Financial Control and FinOps to review and challenge tax numbers, lead Uncertain Tax Positions reporting under IFRS (including IFRIC 23), and manage tax reporting, forecasts, and stress tests. Oversee tax payments and Inland Revenue correspondence, brief the regional tax reporting team around quarter-end activities, and support leadership across Asia and Middle East tax work.

Key Responsibilities

•Lead HK profits tax, domestic minimum tax, and HK employment tax responsibility for in-scope entities, based in Hong Kong.
•Manage corporate tax reporting and compliance, including governance and related reporting.
•Review and challenge material tax issues in coordination with Financial Control and FinOps during the financial reporting process.
•Own Uncertain Tax Positions identification, review, and challenge (including via the reporting portal where appropriate).
•Oversee tax payments and correspondence with the Inland Revenue Department, including enquiries and audits, and brief regional tax reporting ahead of and after quarter-end activities.

Key Requirements

•Significant tax experience, ideally from top-tier advisory or large financial institutions.
•Strong knowledge of HK profits tax and domestic minimum tax and/or international tax matters.
•Substantial knowledge of IFRS tax accounting standards, including IFRIC 23 (Uncertain Tax Positions).
•Experience identifying, reviewing, and challenging Uncertain Tax Positions reporting for in-scope HK entities.
•Familiarity with banking financial operating systems/models and relevant financial processes and controls.
