Job Summary

Join the Global Integrated Assessment Modelling team to develop and apply national and global energy and climate policy models. You’ll review and synthesize scientific and market inputs, run and support models such as Prometheus and OPEN-PROM, and turn results into policy briefs, recommendations, and stakeholder-ready narratives. You’ll also draft reports and presentations, monitor policy developments, and coordinate research and consultancy projects end-to-end.

Key Responsibilities

•Review and synthesize scientific, technical, and market reports into structured inputs for quantitative modelling and assessment.
•Develop policy-relevant insights, including policy recommendations and policy briefs, based on modelling results.
•Apply energy system and integrated assessment models within EU-funded research projects, providing analytical support for climate policy processes (including IPCC contributions).
•Draft reports and/or presentations on the energy sector and monitor EU and global climate and energy policy developments to inform modelling analyses.
•Liaise between modelling teams and policy-oriented work to ensure consistency between quantitative results and narrative outputs, while supporting interpretation, validation, and quality control across deliverables.

Key Requirements

•Hold an MSc and/or PhD in engineering, applied mathematics, computational modelling, operations research, mathematical economics, energy/climate policy, or physics.
•Have professional experience in energy systems analysis, climate policy, and/or integrated assessment modelling, including scenario development and interpretation for policy analysis.
•Have applied experience using analytical/modeling tools with programming knowledge in R, Matlab, Python, or preferably GAMS.
•Have strong experience using the Microsoft Suite, especially Excel for data analysis.
•Translate quantitative modelling results into policy-relevant insights for non-technical audiences and communicate effectively in English.
