Job Summary

Early-career Thermal Engineer in the Mechanical Analysis and Test department, responsible for detailed thermal analyses across product lifecycles, from design trade studies to qualification testing and production support. Performs hand calculations, FE analyses (via ANSYS and other tools), test planning, data reduction, and peer reviews, communicating results to customers and integrating with cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities

•Perform hand calculations to determine the scope of higher detail analysis models
•Perform detailed thermal analyses to solve program thermal challenges
•Generate test plans required to validate analyses and verify hardware compliance to customer requirements
•Analyze test data to validate and correlate models
•Review work with peers to ensure technical accuracy
•Present results to internal, external, and government customers
•Generate detailed documentation of work and archive for reference
•Collaborate with experienced analysts on moderately complex problems
•Plan and support tests and engage in thermal model correlation
•Deliver analyses within cost and schedule constraints

Key Requirements

•Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; or an advanced STEM degree
•Experience in thermal analysis with FloTHERM, PATRAN, Thermal Desktop/SINDA or ANSYS or equivalent
•Knowledge of mechanical principles to solve classical thermal analysis, inside and outside FE tools, with ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
•Ability to obtain a U.S. government issued security clearance; U.S. citizenship is required, clearance must be active and transferable
•Ability to work in a collaborative, team-based environment and independently
