Own the full lifecycle of flight hardware products—from concept and mechanical design to manufacturing, qualification, and field support. Lead CAD-based design and configuration management for both flight and ground systems, and validate performance using an analysis stack that includes hand calculations plus FEA, CFD, thermal, and tolerance studies. Drive DFM/DFA with manufacturing and suppliers, author test plans and technical documentation, and mentor junior engineers through design reviews.

Key Responsibilities

•Take total ownership of complex hardware products from ideation through design, manufacturing, qualification, and field support.
•Lead mechanical design, drawing release, and configuration management of flight and ground hardware using industry-standard CAD tools.
•Own and apply an analysis stack (hand calculations, FEA, CFD, thermal, and tolerance analyses) to validate structural, thermal, and fluid performance.
•Drive design for manufacturability (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA) with technicians, machinists, and suppliers to meet cost and schedule.
•Write and execute test procedures, analyze results to iterate designs, and author/present technical documentation; mentor junior engineers and lead design reviews.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: USD 145,000 - 185,000 annually

Key Requirements

•Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, aerospace, or related engineering AND 8 years of related industry experience (or Master’s with 6 years, or PhD with 3 years).
•Experience taking aerospace or defense hardware from prototype through flight qualification and field support.
•Ability to develop scripts in Python or MATLAB for automation and analysis.
•Hands-on experience with assembly, integration, and test of flight hardware in a lab environment.
•Familiarity with U.S. missile defense, launch, or hypersonics programs.
