Job Summary

Lead the technical direction and architecture for an AI Agent Platform powering emergency response products. Own cross-cutting systems spanning real-time voice AI, telephony, backend infrastructure, and AI pipelines. Mentor engineers, set engineering standards for reliability, security, and performance, and build evaluation, testing, and observability frameworks for AI-assisted workflows. Partner with product and operations leadership and drive incident response and post-incident improvements for mission-critical systems.

Key Responsibilities

•Lead the design and operation of real-time voice AI systems that support human 911 telecommunicators at scale.
•Identify and solve hard problems across low-latency audio, streaming, telephony, LLM orchestration, and human-in-the-loop AI workflows.
•Drive reliability, availability, security, and performance excellence by defining team standards.
•Mentor engineers through reviews, design feedback, and pairing, and raise the technical bar for the team.
•Build evaluation, testing, and observability frameworks; lead incident response and post-incident reviews to improve runbooks and on-call health.

Travel: Low travel

Key Requirements

•10+ years of experience in real-time communication systems with deep expertise in Speech-to-Text, Text-to-Speech, and Voice Activity Detection, plus architecting LLM/agentic/RAG systems in production.
•Production software engineering experience with a clear track record of technical leadership.
•Designed, shipped, and operated large, complex systems in high-stakes domains.
•Comfort working across backend, infrastructure, AI pipelines, and product surfaces to translate ambiguous problems into technical plans.
•Able to raise the engineering bar for tests, observability, code review, security, and clean abstractions, while mentoring effectively.
