Key Responsibilities

  • •Monitor production databases with alerts to identify and address issues before customers are impacted.
  • •Review and optimize MySQL configurations and improve performance, reliability, and scalability.
  • •Investigate slow or problematic queries using execution plans and indexing strategies to improve performance.
  • •Collaborate with engineers to evolve database schemas, indexes, and query patterns as new features are developed.
  • •Plan and execute database upgrades, migrations, configuration changes, and strengthen backup, recovery, and disaster recovery processes.

Key Requirements

  • •At least 7 years of professional experience administering MySQL or similar databases in production.
  • •Comfort working in the cloud and embracing Infrastructure as Code (Terraform).
  • •Deep understanding of databases, automated testing, and agile methodologies.
  • •Experience designing and building cloud infrastructure for complex applications, preferably hosted in AWS.
  • •Experience building and sustaining AWS RDS and Aurora (or Azure Databases) and improving performance, reliability, and scalability.
