Job Summary

Provide telecommunications inspection support for electric transmission and substation projects, ensuring compliance with plans, specifications, utility requirements, and applicable codes. Perform field inspections of fiber optic networks, OPGW/ADSS systems, SCADA communications, shelters, conduit/duct banks, grounding, and network hardware. Collect and analyze site and design data, use specialized testing equipment, and produce detailed inspection reports, testing records, punch lists, and as-builts while coordinating with cross-functional teams across Nevada, with up to 100% travel.

Key Responsibilities

•Perform field inspections of telecommunications systems for transmission and substation projects, verifying workmanship, materials, installation practices, commissioning activities, and construction progress.
•Collect, compile, and analyze technical and construction documentation (e.g., designs, fiber route drawings, schematics, relay/SCADA diagrams, test records, GIS data) to support multi-site inspection activities.
•Use telecommunications testing and diagnostic equipment (including OTDR and fiber testing tools) to verify compliance with design requirements, utility standards, permits, and codes.
•Verify design and construction details such as network capacity calculations, configurations, and interpretations of drawings/specifications while resolving discrepancies.
•Generate detailed documentation (inspection reports, testing summaries, punch lists, as-builts) and coordinate with engineers, project managers, utility representatives, contractors, and other stakeholders; may act as lead inspector.

Key Requirements

•High School Diploma (or equivalent) and at least 9 years of relevant post-education experience with prior construction inspection experience.
•Knowledge of telecommunications facilities and installations including microwave radio sites, fiber sites, collector stations, and optical amplifier sites.
•Knowledge of construction activities such as surveying, grading, civil work, foundations/grounding, conduit, duct banks, and related electrical/fiber systems (strongly preferred).
•Experience working in and around energized facilities including distribution circuits, transmission circuits, and high-voltage substations.
•Valid state driver’s license and strong knowledge of construction inspection principles, codes/regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping.
