Key Responsibilities

  • •Provide visible, professional management to support a high-performance culture and drive continual improvement toward De Beers quality standards.
  • •Develop standards and measures and oversee their implementation to ensure consistency across Midstream.
  • •Ensure operational oversight and direction for technical valuation activities (RtoP) across Special Stones departments, including delivering full technical valuations prior to sale.
  • •Apply market price to Large Stones and manage market premiums by reviewing composition and collective price positioning of Special Stone sight box content post allocation.
  • •Ensure SHE, risk management, and business integrity governance requirements are in place, including incident reporting, investigation, and remedial action; implement SHE campaigns as scheduled.

Key Requirements

  • •Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in a relevant technical discipline, or extensive practical experience in a similar role and context.
  • •Deep expertise in pricing factors, including polished sales trends, recent auction prices, market intelligence, and manufacturing knowledge.
  • •Long-term exposure to rough wholesale markets and buying behaviours, including comfort producing and interpreting financial information.
  • •Advanced understanding of current diamond manufacturing processes and techniques and how they affect value and saleability.
  • •Knowledge of diamond characteristics and impact on value, including how composition and price positioning influence Special Stone sight box outcomes.
