Key Responsibilities

  • •Technically lead the evolution of Classic Mesh toward Traffic Gateways, defining architecture, roadmap, and standards for gradually adopting Istio Gateways in legacy environments.
  • •Drive reduction of technical debt in fury-controlplane and related components via Envoy/dependency updates, infrastructure modernization using infrastructure as code, multi-architecture support, and deprecation of obsolete components.
  • •Ensure reliability of the xDS control plane and Envoy proxies for production routing, covering capacity, multi-region/multi-cloud resilience, deployment strategies, observability, load testing, and incident response.
  • •Lead the proxy release lifecycle from code and Envoy filters through multi-architecture compilation/packaging and gradual deployment into the Fury platform.
  • •Define and execute, with the Istio team, the Gateways transfer plan (shared repositories, shadow mode operations, backlog transfer, and stabilization of prioritized gateways), while mentoring engineers and performing post-incident/systemic improvement analyses.

Key Requirements

  • •Strong experience building software and designing high-availability distributed systems for infrastructure or traffic platforms.
  • •Proficiency in Java or Go, plus experience with Envoy proxies, gRPC, and control-plane/data-plane patterns.
  • •Experience operating or building automated cloud infrastructure on Kubernetes with AWS or GCP, including continuous integration/deployment and infrastructure as code.
  • •Solid networking and routing knowledge: HTTP/HTTPS, load balancing, service mesh, gateways, TLS security, and traffic policies.
  • •Technical leadership ability for architecture/design standards, code review, and decision-making with cross-functional impact, with knowledge of Istio, Nginx, C++, Bazel, and distroless images.
